Pike Fishing Holiday in Castlehamilton, Killeshandra, Co Cavan, Ireland

Beginning of June, we returned back to Castlehamilton for the second time. Not necessary to say that we have greatly appreciate the first time.

We arrived as planned at Saturday and all is ready, Audrey is welcoming us warmly, Alan later end of afternoon.  We enjoy to see again this wonderful very old courtyard, which has been very well restored. 20 minutes later we were already on the lake just 100m from the cottage. Next day, we decided to fish the Lough Oughter which is a very big system. To help us, Donal, the guide from Castlehamilton, gave us good advice. So good that for the first day I’m catching a very big pike: 113cm, probably between 10 and 12kg. The rest of the week was a bit harder as it was so warm we thought we were in Spain; However, we have taken pikes every day. On Thursday, Donal took us for a float tube experience, this was very nice and for sure we will do it again. The week unfortunately went too fast, and we have to fly back to Belgium. No doubt we are impatient for going again next year!

We now know Killeshandra very well and we always appreciate the ambiance of this little town. This time we were very lucky, we arrived at a bank holiday weekend and there was a music festival, with music everywhere, we have really enjoyed this.

Thanks again to Audrey, Alan and Donal, for a very nice stay.

Raymond, Edouard, Benoit from Belgium
