Pike, Trout and Coarse Fishing

Castlehamilton is a centre of excellence for fishing holidays and offers river and lake fishing for Pike, Trout and Coarse Fish. The numerous lakes in easy reach of Castlehamilton are famous for providing excellent Pike and Coarse fishing. Many pike over a metre (20 lbs-10 Kilos) are regularly caught here annually and fish over 14 Kilos-30 lbs. (circa 1.15 metre) are recorded annually. All modern pike methods will work on these waters including lure and jerk bait fishing, deadbait fishing and fly fishing. Many of the nearby loughs are interconnected by the Castle River with the famous Lough Oughter system. Visiting anglers regularly fish one of many boats from Castlehamilton to navigate and fish starting from the Town Lough right through some small lough and joins up with the River Erne at Killykeen. Boats are available for fishing on numerous lakes in the Garadice and other water systems.

For trout fishing, the Annalee River is bountiful and regarded as one of the best wild trout rivers in Ireland. The river is also good for pike and coarse fishing. We also have lakes that are stocked with trout each year. Open season for trout starts 1st March and ends 30th September.
